2009 Review – Goals For 2010

Well..It’s a bit late but I thought I should let you all know my goals for 2010 since as I have been preaching to you all about setting your own goals and targets.

I know a few of you will be  familiar with my story – but some may not so ill give you a brief update.

In February of 2009, after being made redundant from my engineering job – I finally decided to concentrate all my efforts into my online business and go fulltime. It was a hard decision to make, support from friends and family wasn’t great as they didn’t completely understand what I was doing online.

Fast forward a few months I was now at a stage where I was making more online than I had done working as an engineer.

So that’s a brief overview of 2009, what I want to do now is tell you about 2010. My goals and ambitions. Why am I doing this? because if I post it here for the world to see. then I am accountable to all my loyal subscribers, and that is a powerful mental trigger, plus – I’m pretty competitive and don’t want you to see me fail! ;)

So – My goals for 2010.

Business Goals

  • Build my subscriber base to 30,000. I will do this by using adswaps and also through various product launches.
  • Send more informative emails to my list.
  • Build my income to a consistent $30,000 per month.
  • Have my own 6 figure product launch….(working on this now)
  • Set up a membership site helping others to achieve online success
  • Set up a coaching program for my loyal subscribers
  • Redevelop my blog with a redesign and more content updates (at least 1 per week), as I’ve been slacking lately!
  • Go to at least 5 seminars / networking events.(first ones on the 23rd January in London)

Personal Goals

  • Run the London Marathon on the 25th April 2010.
  • Go to the gym at least 3 times a week and also get a personal trainer.
  • Travel more and see the world, Las Vega and an African safari are on my hit list during 2010.
  • Buy a new house
  • Buy a new car, it’s getting old now.
  • Spend next Christmas and New Year somewhere nice and sunny with my friends and girlfriend.

This final goal I would say is a personal and a business goal. I want to train at least one person one on one to do what I have done and earn a full time living online.

So there you have it – I’ve told you what I want to do in 2010..I challenge you to tell me what you are going to do!

My goals may look quite intimidating to you – Hell, they look intimidating to me, but I will achieve them all in 2010. I guarantee it.

Your goals may be earning your first $ online, or getting 1000 subscribes, it doesn’t matter how big, or how small they are, you just need to make sure you have them and that you work towards them everyday.

That is the secret to success. Create goals —> Take action and NEVER EVER stop believing in yourself.

Please leave your comments below and I’d love to hear your goals for 2010

You certainly have lofty goals and I wish you the very best in attaining them…I have no doubt that you will!

I will take some time to evaluate my own situation as I am where you were shortly after lsoning your job. NEW!

I know I can do this and be great at it even if it IS intimidating at first. Step by step with perseverence and I will reach my goals as well.

Thank you for the post, I enjoyed it and am inspired by it!

  2. Well Craig, I just wanted to thank you for that great, enourmous help you give to many of us. I wish the best and I’m sure you’ll achieve all of your goals.

    Hi Craig,
I think that your goals are great! One of mine is to get my first book published and promoted. I am getting help with that. Along those lines as far as information products and other resources are concerned, I only want to focus on those related to making my writig better. And those info-products can be about article writing and marketing, blogging, copyrighing, ect. Now I have a couple of suggestions to help you on your quest for fitness:
    1. Buy a couple of workout DVDs and keep them handy for those days when you can’t go to the gym.
    2. Have some simple exercise equipment on hand such as resistance bands, dumbbells, or heck use your phone book for strength training. As Bob on The Biggest Loser says “Whatever you have, use it! It’s better than nothing. You can even do those exercises you learned in PE that you might have forgotten about such as push-ups and sit-ups. And when you go on vacation pack your walking/running shoes and workout clothes. That way you won’t be tempted to play hookey on your workouts.
Well, I hope that this helps. It’s helped me several times before. Talk soon,

  4. I have a list of goals for 2010 too. But I broke them down into months, so that I have more of a timeline of when I want to achieve them by.

I have already achieved my two main business goals for January – set up a blog, and set up a forum for my niche market. Neither took very long (I used your excellent SMF training for the forum one! lol).

My personal goal for January is to get down to a certain weight. I’m not there yet, but I too am going to the gym 3 times a week (and listening to Green Day LOUD when I do – lol).

I am now going to add another thing to my list. To read ALL of Craig’s emails, and this blog!! I have learned so much each time I have come here.

    Keep up the good work!

    great list of goals.
Put me on your list if you reach them for coaching.
Must write down my goals for the year.

  6. Richard D says:

What a wonderful set of goals! And reading into this I think you’ll achieve them. The first trick to success is to actually write down your goals and then review them every day – then take action on them.
My major goal is to make my it big on the internet – currently I make a few dollars here and a few there. But with the right mentor I believe the sky is the limit. So I’D CRAWL ALONG RED HOT COALS TO BE YOUR ‘ONE-ON-ONE’ pupil. I’d give 110% to make my dream come true!

    Best wishes,

    Hi again,

Thanks for leaving your thoughts and comments, It really is great to hear your feedback.

Christine made a great suggestion about breaking them down into months, I think you should do what I’ve done first then take the time to break them down into months as well.

If you do this you can come back to your goals and cross them off as you achieve them.

keep the comments coming, I love hearing how people are doing 🙂

  8. Hi Craig,

That sounds like a nice progression of goals from where you got to in 2009 (reading between the lines)

I’d be interested to hear more about your “story” from 2009 as I reckon I’m in the same place as you were at the beginning of last year.

I think I’ll be at the same event as you in Jan, so maybe I’ll tap you for info over a beer 🙂

  9. Craig Dawber says:

    Hi Martin,

Yeah ill be at Chris Freville’s event in London, I’m really looking forward to networking with everyone and learning from Chris 🙂

Give me a shout and we’ll have a chat 🙂

    See you there!
